Michael D. Coles becomes the firm's lower Southwest Florida regional manager of Geographic Information Systems
WilsonMiller has named project manager Michael D. Coles as its lower Southwest Florida regional manager of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).WilsonMiller’s GIS Business Unit uses specialized hardware and software to develop applications and model, integrate, manage, analyze, and present spatial data to solve complex problems and support decision-making. In addition to his experience in GIS design and implementation of GIS software and geodatabases throughout Southwest Florida, Coles has provided services in support of site feasibility studies, facilities management and emergency response systems, comprehensive plan amendments, applications for developments of regional impact (DRIs) and various environmental permits, and other public and private sector projects. Coles was a member of the team responsible for mapping approximately 200,000 acres in eastern Collier County to help implement the Rural Land Stewardship (RLS) program. He also was part of a team that worked with the Collier County Public Utilities Engineering Department to develop geodatabases and programs that monitor and manage the county’s water, wastewater, and irrigation facilities and assets across a 225-square-mile service area. Coles earned the Certified GIS Professional (GISP) designation in 2007 from the GIS Certification Institute. GISP certification reflects the application of GIS technology in an ethical manner. Based in WilsonMiller’s Naples headquarters, Coles has a Master of Arts degree in urban planning, design and development, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in urban studies from Cleveland State University. He is also a member of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association. |
