Gary S. Comp has been appointed regional business unit manager of ecological and water resources WilsonMiller has appointed associate Gary S. Comp to the position of regional business unit manager of ecological and water resources.

He is responsible for the upper Southwest Florida region, which includes Charlotte, Sarasota, Manatee, Highlands, and DeSoto counties.

An expert on Florida’s ecology and wetlands, Comp has more than 30 years of experience in environmental and natural resource projects in the public and private sectors.

Comp performs impact analyses for the planning, permitting, and construction of residential, commercial, and industrial developments. He also provides a range of management services in support of habitat restoration, regional mitigation banking, and other projects, including developments of regional impact.

Previously, Comp served as executive director of the Sarasota office of Environmental Affairs Consultants Inc., which WilsonMiller acquired in May of 2007.

Comp has a Master of Science degree in environmental engineering sciences from the University of Florida. Since 1989, he has been the vice chair of the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program’s Technical Advisory Committee, and he was appointed to Sarasota County’s Coastal Advisory Committee in 2006, where he serves a vice chair.
