Owen-Ames-Kimball Company has finished work on the project

Owen-Ames-Kimball Company (OAK) has completed construction of the Southwest Florida Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

The memorial is located at the foot of the Fort Myers side of the Veterans Memorial Bridge in a park setting.

Construction at the site included a brick and concrete path leading to three vertical concrete walls, over which granite panels engraved with the names of local veterans have been placed. A bronze field cross, used by soldiers to honor the grave of a fallen comrade during combat, was positioned in front of the three granite panels. Landscaping and site work were also provided to complete the memorial.

The OAK team for this project was lead by Hector Yanez as the project manager. OAK, the architectural firm of Gora McGahey and numerous subcontractors donated their services and construction materials.

Anyone wishing to help the local veterans’ organization sustain the memorial can do so by sending a donation to Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 594 Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 9325, Fort Myers, Florida 33902.
