Fred Barry, chief operating officer of J.L. Wallace Inc., was appointed president of the 2007-2008 Builders Care board of directors.

Barry has served on the board since 2006.

Barry joined J.L. Wallace Inc. in 2004 as senior project manager, and became chief operating officer in 2006.

Before joining J.L. Wallace, he was a senior project manager for a Wisconsin commercial construction company for 15 years. Barry has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from University of California, Los Angeles.

Barry participates in the speakers bureaus for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Give Kids the World of Florida. He also belongs to the American Legion and is a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

Builders Care is the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association.

Its objective is to provide emergency repairs and construction services to elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged people who are unable to obtain home repairs through traditional means.
