Florida taxpayers bear one of the lightest state and local tax burdens in the country, according to a new report from the Tax Foundation.

While the nation as a whole pays 9.7 percent of its income in state and local taxes, Florida residents pay 7.4 percent.

Taxes paid by non-residents, tourists and out-of-state businesses in Florida are applied to their home states (www.taxfoundation.org).
