The winners are all members of the Squire family of North Port
Craig DeYoung, president of Charlotte State Bank (www.charlottestatebank.com), recently presented $50 U.S. Savings Bond gift certificates to the three winners of the Benjamin J. Baker Neighborhood Improvement Association’s 2008 Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest.
The winners, all members of the Squire family of North Port, are: Taylor Squire, 11, a fifth-grader at Toledo Blade Elementary School; Selina Squire, 13, an eighth-grader at Heron Creek Middle School; and Aaron Squire, 15, a 10th-grader at North Port High School.
The contest, held in conjunction with the association’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade and Rally, included essays in three categories – elementary, middle, and high school – based on the event’s theme of “Teamwork: The Way to Accomplish the Dream.” The winning siblings received their certificates during a presentation ceremony at Charlotte State Bank’s main office, 1100 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, on Friday.
