Gora McGahey Associates in Architecture designed the building, which will be constructed in Immokalee

Design work is complete and construction is set to begin on Phase II of the Guadalupe Center.

Gora McGahey Associates in Architecture (www.gora-mcgahey.com) has designed both phases of this community center, which serves the Immokalee community.

The Guadalupe Center project is financed in large part through the Naples Wine Festival, and provides child care, parenting classes and more to families in the eastern Collier County community.

“Initial plans called for the renovation of an existing building on the Guadalupe Center site,” according to Dan McGahey. “But after looking at the extent of the renovation this building required, and comparing the cost with new construction, the Guadalupe Center board decided to demolish the old building and start over.”

The new, 14,275 square-foot building will house eight daycare classrooms, an administration area with four offices and a large, open work space, a nursing clinic, kitchen and dining room.

Dan McGahey was the principal-in-charge for Gora McGahey, and Terry Gilchrist is the project manager.

Owen-Ames-Kimball Company is the general contractor for the Guadalupe Center project. Construction on the new facility is expected to begin by the end of 2007.
