Citizens For Sox will hold a meeting tonight to discuss the possible return of the Boston Red Sox to Sarasota for spring training.

The public is invited.

The team is being courted by city officials to relocate its spring operations from Fort Myers.

The Citizens for Sox gathering starts at 7 p.m. at the Lido Beach Resort at 700 Ben Franklin Drive.

Scheduled to speak and take questions will be Sarasota city commissioner Kelly Kirschner and Sarasota County commissioner Joe Barbetta. The group’s Web site, www.citizensforsox.com, provides more information about the issue.
