Gyrocam Systems will supply light sensors for explosive-search equipment

Sarasota-based Gyrocam Systems (www.gyrocamsystems.com) has won a $302 million Department of Defense contract to supply approximately 500 Gyrocam Triple Sensors for Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles.

The systems will support the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The camera-enabled MRAP vehicles allow soldiers to maintain a safe distance while hunting for Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).

The Triple Sensor, which can see in bright light, low light or no light, lets Soldiers look for IEDs day or night.
