J.L. Wallace Inc. handled the renovation and expansion

J.L. Wallace Inc. (www.jlwallaceinc.com) has completed the renovation and expansion of the National Guard Armory at 3405 Marion St. in Fort Myers.

The project entailed a renovation of the existing 10,520-square-foot armory and a 2,500-square-foot expansion, which included a new training area, additional storage space and expansion of the mechanical and electrical rooms.

The bathroom facilities, offices, supply areas and storage rooms were renovated, and the electrical and plumbing systems have been replaced. In addition, J.L. Wallace demolished an existing one-story structure east of the armory building and installed a new motor pool storage and maintenance bay building.

The original armory building was constructed in the 1950s and has several unique architectural features including a barrel vault roof structure, which remains intact.

Harold Morgan of J.L. Wallace served as senior project manager, and Jeff Griffith served as job superintendent.
