The Naples facility is built to withstand winds up to 150 mph
The boathouse at Hamilton Harbor Yacht Club (www.hamiltonharboryachtclub.com) is now complete and has received a certificate of occupancy. It’s the only concrete boat storage facility in Naples, and will withstand winds up to 150 mph. Completion of the boathouse marks the opening of the club’s marina facility. “The Hamilton Harbor boathouse sets a new standard in the dry-storage market,” said Pat Utter, vice president of real estate for developer Collier Enterprises. “ The boathouse was built using the tilt-wall concrete construction method. The walls were poured into concrete molds, cured and then tilted up with the help of a crane. Tilt wall construction gives the boathouse greater strength and durability than the more common pre-engineered metal construction. “It’s one of the first boathouses built to withstand 150 mph winds,” said Ted Maupin, certified marina manager and director of marina operations for Hamilton Harbor. That’s notably stronger than the 115 to 140 mph protection typical with standard boat storage facilities along the Gulf coast, he says. In addition to storm protection, the Hamilton Harbor boathouse will provide comprehensive fire prevention and protection, with a high-tech sprinkler system and concrete walls separating each bay. The boathouse design also features an 84-foot-wide aisle, a 14-inch thick concrete slab engineered to hold the weight of the club’s 55,000-pound capacity forklift. The boathouse has 325 slips and will accommodate boats up to 50 feet long, 20 feet high and 15 feet wide. Slip prices range from $100,000 to $500,000. |
