Compass Construction is building the project

Ground has been broken on The Apostles Village, a new U.S. Housing and Urban Development affordable senior housing facility at 525 E. Sadie Street in Brandon, according to its builder, Compass Construction Inc.

The construction site is connected with Apostles Lutheran Church and has been sponsored by Lutheran Services of Florida.

The 27, 875 square-foot building will consist of one- and two-bedroom apartments, of which nine are handicap accessible, three are for the hearing impaired and the balance of are ADA complaint. Each unit will be equipped with a kitchen and living room.

The first floor also will have a community activity room, sunroom, snack area and administrative offices.

Tyson & Billy Architects is providing architectural services. Laura Dieter will be the project manager, John McFadden is the superintendent and Marian Poole is the project administrator.
