The certification goes to Crowne Plaza at Bell Tower

The Crowne Plaza Hotel at Bell Tower (www.CPFortMyers.com) has passed its inspection to become a “One Palm” Certified Green Lodging destination.

This designation is voluntary and requires the hotel to maintain and consistently update its efforts to decrease their impact on the environment through various “green” measures.

The Certified Green Lodging designation is given out as a part of the Green Lodging Florida office of the by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The process consists of an extensive application and detailed inspection prior to the certification being awarded.

Candidate locations must meet and exceed a range of criteria from indoor air quality to recycling and energy usage. To receive a “Two Palm” designation, previously approved lodging venues must reapply in one year and provide documentation of increased efforts in their “green” practices.

“Our new ‘One Palm’ designation combined with the recent upgrades in becoming a Crowne Plaza, further enhances our position in the community as a hospitality leader for meetings and accommodations, and it’s simply a responsible business decision,” said Jim Larkin, General Manager for the Crowne Plaza Hotel at Bell Tower.
