RealtyTrac ranks the area No. 24 nationally for 2007

The Sarasota/Bradenton/Venice region ranked 24th among the top 100 Metropolitan Statistical Area foreclosure rate rankings in 2007, compiled by RealtyTrac (www.realtytrac.com). With 11,807 foreclosure filings, the Sarasota/Bradenton/Venice MSA shot up 226.69 percent from 2006. RealtyTrac’s rankings are based on the total number of properties in foreclosure. The state had three cities in the top 20: Miami, No. 8; Ft. Lauderdale, No. 10; and Orlando, No. 20. Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater came in at No. 23.
