The organization is recognized for outstanding promotional and marketing strategies
The Economic Development Council of Collier County (EDC) has been recognized for outstanding promotional and marketing strategies by the Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC). The EDC earned two promotional materials awards for its recently printed “Resource Guide to Starting Your Business” and its Mobile Business Alert System. The awards recognize outstanding promotional, marketing and advertising strategies in attracting, retaining and expanding business and industry throughout the state of Florida. “We are honored to receive this recognition from the Florida Economic Development Council,” said Tammie Nemecek, EDC President. “These awards emphasize outstanding promotional strategies and encourage the development of more effective marketing tools.” The “Resource Guide to Starting Your Business” originated out of the EDC’s Business Retention and Expansion Advisory Board. One of the group’s initiatives was to plan an event that focused specifically on the EDC targeted industries and to create a document for entrepreneurs and small business owners on how to start their business in Collier County as well as the financial resources available to them. The group held the first-ever seminar and exhibition last year and distributed the resource guide to interested parties. The Mobile Business Alert System came about through a partnership of the EDC and Neighborhood America’s Mobile Solutions after two active hurricane seasons. There was a need for informing local business owners and residents of storms, hurricanes and other emergencies affecting the region. The text messaging system greatly improved the EDC’s ability to get information out quickly and efficiently, allowing EDC staff members to quickly gather critical information such as which businesses would remain open and which had taken adequate measures to prepare for the storm.
