Brooks & Freund (www.brooksandfreund.com), a commercial and residential construction firm, has been honored by American Buildings Company.

For Best Retail Facility Project, Brooks & Freund received an Excellence in Design Award for the Sandpiper Plaza development, a retail and office building at 3725 Bonita Beach Road in Bonita Springs.

Sandpiper Plaza has 14 units with individual suites that range from 1,586 to 1,808 square feet. The project features an efficient and economic design that incorporates a pre-engineered column-less metal building roof insert and standing seam roof panels with conventional masonry walls and metal trusses at the tile roof areas. The exterior elements of the building create a subtle tropical style. They include a lap siding effect done with stucco, exposed clear decorative truss trails, decorative aluminum Bahama shutters and flat shake style roof tiles.

Brooks & Freund also received Honorable Mention in the Warehouse/Distribution category for construction of the Wayne Wiles project, the 19,453 square-foot home office for Wayne Wiles Floor Coverings located in Fort Myers. The building is a combination of a two story office building with a large warehouse area. The exterior elevations are subdued art deco which is pleasing to the eye.
