Gora McGahey Associates in Architecture designed the 22,420 square-foot facility to withstand Cat V hurricanes

Construction has started on the new Bonita Springs Utilities Operations Center.

Gora McGahey Associates in Architecture (www.gora-mcgahey.com) designed the 22,420 square-foot facility, which will serve as the maintenance, training and warehousing hub for Bonita Springs Utilities.

The office and training space is designed to withstand Category V hurricanes, and will serve as the emergency operations center for Bonita Springs Utilities during storm events.

The multipurpose facility will warehouse new water and sewer equipment and serve as maintenance and repair center for equipment already in the field.

Bruce Gora is the principal-in-charge of this project; Ramon Acevedo serves as project manager and Bob Schuerman as contract administrator. CH2MHill has been selected as the construction manager on the project.

Completion of the building is scheduled for next summer.
