The building was converted from a headquarters to an operating station

Construction is complete on the renovation of Bonita Springs Fire Station No. 1 on Old U.S. 41 south of Terry Street.

The project, designed by Gora/McGahey Associates in Architecture (www.gora-mcgahey.com), converted the headquarters of the Bonita Springs Fire Control District into a new, neighborhood fire station.

During construction, the apparatus wing of the fire station was re-roofed and brought up to current building codes. The original administration and staff areas were demolished and replaced with an 8.800 square-foot fire and EMS station.

The new facility contains sleeping areas for 20, a training and conference room, and administrative areas.

Dan McGahey was principal-in-charge of the project, Noel Hernandez was project manager, and Bob Schuerman was the contract manager for Gora/McGahey.

DeAngelis Diamond Construction was the general contractor for the project.
